P15 Direct provocation test for penicillin allergy delabelling: a 4-year retrospective review

Abstract Background Penicillin allergy is the most commonly reported drug allergy.1 Over 90% of these are mislabelled1. Labelled penicillin associated with increased broad-spectrum antibiotic use, costs, and length admission. A recent meta-analysis delabelling studies showed that provocation test (DPT) a low-risk procedure in patients multiple clinical financial benefits.2 Methods Retrospective analysis all who had DPT hospital across one health trust 2019–2022. Hospital GP electronic records allergies were reviewed. GPs retained an status post-DPT contacted. Results 46 DPTs documented during this time. The PENFAST3 score was used to identify those suitable for DPT. One delayed reaction recorded. No anaphylaxis Infectious diseases primary specialty (67%). In total, 78% carried out on medical patients. ID consult service responsible 100% surgical specialties. Seven received been relabelled allergic post-DPT. Two self-reported presentation hospital. Five from physician review historic documentation settings. 56% not regarding updated. Conclusions This concludes safe inpatient population opportunity mislabelled allergy. Infection specialists teams however given safety profile non-infection, should be encouraged use protocol. Enhanced communication needed ensure correct known community. Relabelling risk, further education must healthcare providers continuation delabelled status.
